Kumbh Ke Mele Mein Ab Nahi Khoyega Koi! QR Codes, AI Surveillance And Smart Pillars Will Guide You Back!

The Kumbh Mela is an awe-inspiring spectacle. After 12 years, it is currently ongoing in Prayagraj with millions of devotees, vibrant rituals, and an atmosphere charged with spiritual energy. If you’ve also thought about visiting the Mahakumbh Mela, one question has probably crossed your mind: What if I get lost? The size of the mela, the massive crowds, and the endless rows of tents can make it feel like a maze. But here’s the good news! Maha Kumbh 2025 has a foolproof system in place to make sure no one stays lost for long. Read on to learn all about it.

What Happens When You Get Lost At The Mahakumbh Mela?

Getting lost in the Mahakumbh Mela is not an irrational fear. With vast crowds, getting separated from your group is more common than you’d think. In previous editions of the Kumbh, stories of lost children being reunited with their families after years have become the stuff of legend. But in Maha Kumbh 2025, the authorities have taken extraordinary measures to ensure no one remains lost for long.

Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, spoke to the Minister for Urban Development and Energy of Uttar Pradesh at the Kumbh to understand how this issue is being tackled. Here’s what she found:

  • Pillar Number System

Every pillar in the mela is marked with a yellow poster that has a unique number. If you lose your way, just remember the nearest pillar number, and officials can locate you in no time!

  • QR Code Assistance

The same poster has a QR code that, when scanned, leads you to a form where you can send a message to the control room. Whether you’re lost or looking for someone, help will come to you.

Kamiya Jani also took a closer look at the control centre, where all the action is monitored. Every corner of the mela is under surveillance, thanks to drones, CCTV cameras, and the latest technology. With AI-powered surveillance and facial recognition, the control room can track your location anywhere in the mela.

To help families reunite, the mela also features Lost & Found Centres and committed volunteers working at help desks. Regular announcements and electronic screens ensure that those in need are never left in the dark. Thanks to these innovative solutions, Maha Kumbh 2025 is expected to be the safest Kumbh yet!
