Folks of London, are you ready to celebrate and have loads of fun at the much-awaited Notting Hill Carnival? This grand event is all set to start on 26 August. Known as the biggest street party in London, this carnival is all set to dazzle the streets with glorious performances, parades, and so much more. Londoners are excited to celebrate this 3-day event in West London with pomp and glory. The date is knocking at the door with less than a week to go. The streets are all set to be decked up with thousands of parade performers, attendees, viewers, and communities having a wonderful time. The extravagant costumes, performances, and over-the-top decor are indeed some of the biggest highlights. The procession of people grooving to amazing music with massive sound systems is something viewers wait to witness.

  • Starting on 26 August, the carnival will continue till 28 August 2023. On the 3-day long weekend of the August Bank Holiday, this event will be celebrated.
  • Many roads will be shut due to the festival. The change in routes might be a bit of a problem for transportation. So plan your journey accordingly.
  • Remember that there will be no Night Tube or Overground Service on 27 August, according to a report by The Independent.
  • Also, the Ladbroke Grove Tube station will be shut on both days of the carnival.

Some tube stations that are closest are Notting Hill Gate, Paddington, Royal Oak, Shepherd’s Bush, and Westbourne Park. An important point to note is that Notting Hill Gate, Royal Oak and Westbourne Park will be open for exit from 11 AM. Notting Hill Gate will be open till 7 PM and Royal Oak and Westbourne Park will be open till 6 PM.

If this is your first time attending the carnival, you are in for some special and memorable experiences.

  • The first day of the event will witness the Panorama Steel Band competition. It will take place at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park from 4 PM to 11 PM.
  • The highlight of the second day is J’Ouvert traditional celebrations. It will start from 6 AM to 9 AM at Sainsbury’s Ladbroke Grove. Next at 10 AM, the opening ceremony of the carnival will begin at MAS Judging Point. This day will also witness Family Day at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park and Powis Square from 12 PM to 7 PM.
  • 28 August will be about the Adults Day celebrations at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park and Powis Square from 12 PM to 7 PM.
