Often, it becomes the most expensive part of the trip. However, a new hack has gone viral on social media that lets people avail of cheaper flight ticket prices. The people on the Internet swear by this new hack as they have tried it for themselves.

This smart hack first went viral on the popular social media website TikTok but then spread all over the Internet. Here is how to avail of the hack: –

  • Go to Google Flights.
  • Feed in your starting location.
  • Leave the date of travel blank.
  • This is the most important part: Leave the destination blank or type in ‘anywhere.’
  • Click on the ‘Explore’ button.

Following this, you will see a number of flight options, especially international flights, that are significantly cheaper than what you would normally see. Bonus points if you do this in incognito mode as the personalised algorithm hasn’t kicked in and you don’t see the jacked-up prices. The hack was popularised by the TikTok user called Around The Atlas and she was over the moon to discover this hack.

According to an article recently published by the Hindustan Times, the video had received more than four million views and 201,000 saves within just one day. Many people also took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared the hack on the micro-blogging website.

Possible Downsides To The Hack

While the reaction was mostly positive, with Netizens excitedly trying the hack for themselves and then being amazed that they didn’t know about it, many have also pointed out the possible downsides of this trick. While it is true that the flights that come up in such a search are cheaper, many find it unhelpful since the flights are not on convenient dates.

What is more, many flights have multiple layovers which only serves to inconvenience the passengers. Hence, while the hack does offer a discounted price, the dates and timings of the flight might not always be convenient. However, it is still a useful trick to try when people are planning trips.

Many even pointed out that there are a number of private companies that offer similarly discounted flight tickets. This can even be helpful for solo travellers and for people who want to take a trip but don’t know where to go.
