Heading To Mahabaleshwar For New Year’s Eve? Celebrations Will Wind Up Before 10pm

With the night curfew in place, many city dwellers escape to hill stations like Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar to ring in New Year. However, looking at tourists’ surge, all events will be restricted till 10 pm on December 31. The Government also invoked section 144 and banned the assembly of more than four people. Besides, hotels, restaurants and dhabas in Satara district’s hill stations, will not operate beyond 11 pm on the New Year’s Eve. On December 31, the curbs have been imposed because of the COVID-19 situation and influx of tourists in Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani.

Travelling To & From Airport Is Allowed

Due to the spike in the COVID-19 cases, the Maharashtra government has imposed night curfew from December 22, 2020 to January 5, 2021. The curfew will remain in place every night from 11 PM to 6 AM. But have you booked a late evening or early morning flight? Do not worry as the Maharashtra Government has allowed travel to and from Mumbai airport. You will be able to proceed onwards as cab services and public transportation will be available all the time. The Mumbai Airport will continue to remain operational during the 11 pm to 6 am night curfew as well.

Maharashtra Imposes 14 Days Night Curfew From 11PM To 6 AM

Night curfew from 11 PM to 6 AM will be imposed in Maharashtra from December 22 to January 5, to combat the spread of coronavirus. Maharashtra has reported around 3811 fresh cases, taking the coronavirus tally in the state to nearly 1.9 million. Also, wearing of masks will be compulsory in Maharashtra for the next 6 months, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray informed the state via social media platforms on December 20. People have to continue taking precautions like mainatining social distancing and cleaning hands. Meanwhile, Maharashtra has eased Business Policy for hospitality sector and reduced the number of licenses.

Mandatory Institutional Quarantine For People Coming From Europe And Middle East

Maharashtra has mandated 14-days institutional quarantine for people returning from Europe and the Middle East. All those who are returning from other countries need to undergo home quarantine. Also, the Civil Aviation Ministry has suspended all flights connecting the UK and India till December 31, starting from 11:59 PM on December 22.

The Ministry has also tweeted, “As a measure of abundant precaution, passengers arriving from UK in all transit flights (flights that have taken off or flights which are reaching India before 22nd Dec at 23.59 hrs) should be subject to mandatory RT-PCR test on arrival at the airports concerned.” Meanwhile, here are 5 places to visit in Maharashtra other than Mumbai:
