China’s Southern Xinjiang province was hit by an earthquake of 7.2 magnitude measured on the Richter Scale. It was quite late at night on Monday when this part of China experienced a massive quake. Not just in China, the tremors of the 7.2 magnitude natural disaster were felt in some parts of India as well. Read on to know all the necessary information about the recent earthquake.

Here’s All About The Earthquake In Southern Xinjiang In China

Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, the National Center for Seismology (@NCS_Earthquake) shared some facts about the quake.

According to the India Standard Time, it was at 11:39 PM when the earthquake jolted in the Southern Xinjiang region of China. The tremors were reported at a depth of 80 km. According to the information provided by the National Center for Seismology, the latitude of the scary natural disaster was 40.96 and its longitude was 78.30.

“Earthquake of magnitude: 7.2, Occurred on 22-01-2024, 23:39:11 IST, Lat: 40.96 & Long: 78.30, Depth: 80 km, Location: Southern Xinjiang, China”, stated the National Center for Seismology in the social media post.

The western Xinjiang region of China was hit by an earthquake of 7.1 magnitude on Tuesday. It was in the wee hours when the tremors were felt. The earthquake injured about 6 people. Also, it damaged over 120 houses in the region.

Some Places In India Felt The Tremors

The earthquake reported in China’s Southern Xinjiang region was quite a strong one. Its tremors were experienced in India as well. Some parts of the Delhi NCR region experienced tremors after the earthquake jolted the affected area late on Monday night. A few adjoining places of the national capital also felt the same last night. More details about the effects in Delhi NCR are awaited as of now.

News on any casualties or severe injuries have not been reported yet. Also, no news is circulating about the destruction of houses and other properties in and near the affected area.
