Maui is currently being ravaged by wildfire. The origin of this wildfire is still unknown but rescue operations are underway. Currently, the wildfires are active in areas like Pulehu or Kihei, Lahaina and Upcountry. According to an article recently published by The Indian Express, the fire started on the 8th of August.

As per many experts, the winds of the category-4 hurricane Dora acted as catalysts and exacerbated the flames. Furthermore, dry vegetation as well as the low levels of humidity played a role in the spread of the flames.

Actor Jason Momoa, who has Hawaiian ancestry, took his social media and asked his followers to help in any way that they could. In a post that he shared on the 12th of August, he asked his followers to not visit Maui. He said that it was not the place to have a vacation.
