1. Saudi Arabia Calls On Muslims For Sight Of Dhul Hijjah

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called on Muslims across the kingdom. Yes, they’ve asked them to sight the crescent moon, which would mark the beginning of the month of Dhul Hijjah. This has been planned for the evening of Sunday, May 17th.

2. Aquatic Show Waterland Arrives In Kuwaiti Theatre

Waterland is a full-scale aquatic production that has arrived in the Kuwaiti theatre. It blends drama, visual spectacle and modern technology. As revealed by Kuwait Times, this production opened to the public on May 14th. Taking place at an Olympic swimming pool in the Kuwait club, audiences are in for a distinctive performance that merges stage performance with live aquatic action.

3. Kuwait Announces Reduced Working Hours In Government Offices

As revealed in a report by Ajel News, Kuwait has announced that there will be a reduction of working hours in government entities. This is for the summer months, and the working hours have been reduced to only six hours. This decision has been taken with the aim of rationalising electricity consumption.

4. Etihad Airways Launches Codeshare With Uzbekistan Airways

Etihad Airways, which is based out of Abu Dhabi, recently announced the launch of its codeshare with Uzbekistan Airways. This gives their guests a single ticket access to eight cities and would be across Uzbekistan via Tashkent. Not to mention, it would be alongside the new daily Abu Dhabi – Tashkent service from August 9th.

5. UAE To Sight Dhul Hijjah On May 17th

Just after the announcement from Saudi Arabia, the UAE Council for Fatwa has also announced that it would observe the crescent moon. This would be done on the evening of Sunday, May 17th, to sight the Dhu Al Hijjah crescent. It corresponds to the 29th of Dhu Al Qadah 1447AH. It was further mentioned in a report of the Gulf News that the moon sighting process will be conducted in coordination with the National Observatory and the special astronomy centres.
