IKEA Saudi Arabia Offers Discounts To Shoppers Who Walk 4,000 Steps In Stores

IKEA has decided to stop fighting one of its most common stereotypes and instead use it to sell things. Long walks through the store are no longer just part of the experience at IKEA Saudi Arabia. They now come with a prize. The brand’s new campaign, Step Buy Step, gives shoppers a reason to keep moving and maybe stay in those confusing showrooms for a little longer.

IKEA Saudi Arabia Gives Discounts For Walking

People who have ever been to an IKEA store know what to expect. You go in to buy a lamp and somehow do a mini marathon before you pay. IKEA Alsulaiman gives out step-counting bracelets at the entrances of their stores as part of the Step Buy Step campaign. Customers still walk through displays and browse aisles, but now they have a twist. If you walk 4,000 steps before you get to the cashier, you will get a 10% discount on your total.

The campaign is currently live in major cities like Jeddah, Madina, Riyadh, and Dhahran, and it is aimed at IKEA Family members all over the Kingdom.

Why Saudi Arabia Is Getting Involved In The Movement

This project fits in perfectly with Saudi Arabia’s larger health push.

Under Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom has been pushing people to be more active, especially through its Quality of Life Programme. Walking, fitness, and moving around in general have become very important.

IKEA is tapping into a bigger cultural moment by combining shopping with exercise. Right now, even small steps (literally) can help you get healthier.

A Smart Way To Use Customer Behaviour

The layout of IKEA stores didn’t change. It didn’t make the routes shorter or the maze easier. Instead, it made fun of what people already joke about.

The campaign also encourages customers to look at more sections, which could lead to more spending and engagement. It’s a win-win: shoppers feel good about their purchases, and the brand keeps them inside longer.
