Picture this: you hand over your bags at home, collect a boarding pass without joining a single queue, and get walked through the airport like a VIP. Sharjah International Airport is working towards exactly that.

What Is The Plan?

The airport intends to combine its Home Check-In service with Al Diyafah, its recently launched hospitality service. Passengers would complete travel formalities, receive their boarding passes and have their luggage collected from home before heading to the airport. Dr Ahmed Hassan Al Hamoudi, Director of Customer Services at Sharjah Airport Authority, shared the plan with Al Khaleej newspaper, as reported by Gulf News. It is still a plan. No launch date or price for the combined service has been announced.

What Does Al Diyafah Include?

Al Diyafah gives departing and arriving passengers personal help. A dedicated team receives you, handles your bags and fast-tracks check-in, passport control and security screening. You also get access to a luxury hospitality lounge, and if your aircraft is not connected to an aerobridge, a private vehicle takes you straight to it. Duty-free orders can be delivered to you within 30 minutes, and there are exclusive offers and discounts on top.

How Does Home Check-In Work Today?

The service launched last November. A Sharjah Airport team issues your boarding pass and collects your bags from your home, hotel or office in Sharjah, so you can go straight to passport control on arrival at the airport. You can book through the airport website. When it launched, packages started at Dh145 for one to two bags, so check current rates before you book.

What Else Is Already There?

Sharjah Airport already has self-service boarding pass printing, baggage drop, smart gates for immigration and self-boarding across its terminal.

Why Does It Matter?

The airport handled 19.4 million passengers in 2025, a 14 per cent jump on the year before. With numbers like that, anything that trims queue time helps. During busy travel periods, the airport has also advised passengers to arrive three hours before departure.

What Should Flyers Do Now?

Nothing changes yet. Keep using Home Check-In or Al Diyafah separately if they suit your trip, and watch for an official announcement on when the two merge.
