Mini Vande Bharat Express Between Kashi & Howrah

Plans are underway to operate an eight-coach Vande Bharat Express specifically catering to the Kashi-Howrah route. This comes amidst the recent arrival of 15 Vande Bharat trainsets built by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. These trainsets include configurations with both eight-coach chair cars and sleeper coaches.

The new Vande Bharat service boasts an impressive operational speed of 130 to 160 kilometres per hour, significantly reducing travel time between Kashi and Howrah to a mere six hours. This swift connection will be a welcome change for passengers currently enduring longer journeys.

Significant Step For Rail Travel

Railway officials reveal that the proposal for a dedicated Banaras-Howrah Vande Bharat was submitted to the Railway Board in 2023. With the recent formation of the NDA government, expectations are high for the Northeast Railway administration to finally receive the green light for this mini Vande Bharat Express. Officials are confident that this development will mark a significant step forward for rail travel, offering passengers enhanced facilities and a more streamlined experience.

The mini Vande Bharat will be the fifth such train connecting Kashi with other major destinations. Currently, Varanasi enjoys Vande Bharat services to Patna, Ranchi, and two routes to New Delhi. Notably, all existing Vande Bharat trains operate from Varanasi Cantt station. The Howrah service, however, is expected to depart from the main Banaras station.
