Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP) has been nurtured under the framework of Niti Aayog. With an emphasis on women in the nation’s northeast, MMT has announced the launch of Project Maitri. But what is this project, and whom will it benefit?
MMT Collaborates With WEP To Launch ‘Project Maitri
MakeMyTrip with Project Maitri will utilize homestays’ unrealized potential as a springboard for independence, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment. The goal of Project Maitri is to uplift and motivate homestay hosts in all of the nation’s northeastern states.
Selected participants in the project will get specialized training catered to their particular business requirements. A wide range of skills, including compliance, digital marketing, safety, and hospitality, will be covered in this course.
Furthermore, awards will be given to the top three homestay operators to further encourage quality and creativity. Project Maitri has been specially designed with the women homestay owners of the northeast in mind.

Unlocking The Potential Of Homestays
Project Maitri, according to WEP Mission Director Anna Roy, exemplifies a strategic approach to support women’s entrepreneurship and is in line with national goals of economic development and gender equality.
It could pay off in the long run because homestays in India have the potential to develop into a successful and profitable company for women who want to be financially independent.

NITI Aayog-founded WEP has developed into a public-private partnership to address information and services pertinent to women entrepreneurs. It provides a plethora of resources, including a knowledge base, a community platform, a SmartMatch-based platform for government programs and private sector initiatives, and resources like capacity building and mentoring.
WEP serves as an aggregator platform, hosting services and providing information pertinent to female entrepreneurs. Through important collaborations, WEP provides its users with access to workshops, campaigns, vital information, and other learning and development opportunities from industry trailblazers. It has collaborations in six primary areas of focus.
In order to foster peer learning, WEP invites entrepreneurs to share their experiences, tales, and entrepreneurial adventures. The industry players’ mentorship further reinforces all of this.
