Moscow is preparing to introduce a virtual “Foreign Tourist Card” that would permit cashless payments for a variety of services.

The Russian Federal Government has launched a proposal to create a ‘Foreign Tourist Card’. The initiative is still in the works, and several legal documents have been changed to make this card viable.

Additionally, programs like the Foreign Tourist Card will aid in resolving payment-related concerns following MasterCard and Visa’s exit from the Russian market. According to Bulat, the concept behind this card is that someone in India can remotely apply for it. They can then transfer funds from their personal bank account to this bank account.

The individual at home will receive this virtual card, which will be issued. The foreign visitors’ payment-related concerns in Moscow will be taken care of by this card.

Moscow feels that with tourist-friendly policies like the e-visa, the number of Indian travellers is anticipated to increase in the months to come. As of August 1, 2023, visitors from India and 54 other nations can apply for an electronic visa to enter Russia, making travel to Moscow easier.

Russian flag carrier Aeroflot boosted the frequency of its aircraft services on the Delhi-Moscow route to seven times a week from four times a week in March of this year to give visitors more travel alternatives.

Earlier this month, India and Russia “in principle” agreed to update their bilateral aviation services agreement, enabling Russian airlines to run up to 64 flights per week from 52 destinations in India. (As per Hindustan Times)
