Mumbai Metro Is Offering 25% Discount For Senior Citizens, Disabled Citizens, And Children!

Mumbai Metro has constantly been on the road to development and progress. It is really striving to make the lives of Mumbaikars easier than ever. To add to the ease, Mumbai Metro has now announced a 25% discount in the fares for differently-abled citizens, senior citizens, and children. The new fares will be applicable from May 1.

Mumbai Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared that people will be able to avail the discount soon, starting on Maharashtra Day. The Chief Minister also highlighted the thought behind this discount. Since the metro was designed to make the lives of senior citizens, differently abled people, and children easier, it only makes sense to make sure that they are able to utilise it as much as possible.

This discount has been introduced for the betterment of society so that more and more people are able to make the most of it. Starting May 1, it can be availed of through the Mumbai 1 National Common Mobility Card. As decided by the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Mumbai Metro 2A and 7 corridors will be used to roll out these discounts.

How To Avail The Discounted Prices?

The discount plans state that these special fares could be availed of by children studying up to class 12, senior citizens above 65 years, and citizens with permanent disabilities for 45 or 60 trips. To make use of these special fares, eligible citizens will have to submit some documents. Disabled citizens will have to show medical certificates, senior citizens will have to show proof of age, and children will have to show an identity card along with their PAN card (student or parent card).

To avail of the 25% discount, the traveller can show valid documents at the ticket window of any Metro Line 2A and 7 stations. Both new and old Mumbai 1 cards can be used to get the discount. These cards can be recharged at retail stores, BEST buses, or petrol pumps and will be valid for 30 days.

This is certainly a great step towards making lives easier for Mumbaikars.
