Mumbai Railway Stations Get Meghdoot Machines That Converts Water Vapour Into Potable Water

Narendra Modi in his speech time and again reminds the people of India the power of innovation. He believes that Innovation is the key to realising the dream of New India. In accordance with this idea, Indian Railways has installed “Meghdoot” machines in Dadar, Thane, and other stations in the Mumbai Division. The unique Meghdoot machine converts water vapour into potable water using innovative technology which is purely the result of an out of the box thinking.

Meghdoot Machines – Potable Water Converted From Water Vapour

A contract for the installation of 17 “MEGHDOOT,” atmospheric water generator kiosks, over the Mumbai Division of Central Railway under NINFRIS policy for a period of five years, has reportedly been awarded to Maithri Aquatech Pvt Ltd., the official said. Innovative technology is used by the special “Meghdoot” devices to turn water vapour into potable water which is drinkable water. A device named as Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) is used to extract water from ambient air. To remove water vapour from the environment, the method makes use of condensation science.

Research Driven Meghdoot Machines

The technology enables operation in situations with a wide range of relative humidity and ambient temperatures (18°C-45°C) (25 percent – 100 percent). The company related to Meghdoot also works with the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, to produce the best quality water possible. The best part about this technology is that it is environment friendly and at the same time requires zero maintenance. Meghdoot can be used as a quick fix for potable water since it starts producing water within hours of being turned on. It is purely research driven.
