Mumbai has been lashed with incessant rains in the last few hours. In addition to this, visuals of various areas flooded took social media by storm. Workers heading to their jobs despite the flooding reminds one of Varun Grover’s poignant poem “Spirit Of Mumbai.” The rainfall in the past 24 hours was so heavy that the BMC declared a holiday for schools and colleges. Now the rains seemed to have abated.

1. AWS Records Areas With Highest Rainfall All Over Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC revealed the areas with the highest rainfall between 8 AM, 25 July 2024 to 8 AM 26 July 2024. During this period, the Vakola region received the highest rainfall totalling 142.2 millimetres.
2. Schools To Remain Open Today

In a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), the BMC also went on to share that since the rains had abated significantly, schools and colleges were operating as usual.
3. Air Quality In Mumbai Improves Significantly After The Heavy Rainfall

According to an article which was recently published by the Free Press Journal or FPJ, the air quality of Mumbai has moved to the ‘good’ category after it braved heavy rains. As per the data from Mumbai’s Air Quality Index or AQI, the PM10 particles are at 35 as of now.

Even though the heavy rains have abated, it is predicted that regions like the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, Satara and Raigad will still experience showers. These showers in the MMR may not be as intense as yesterday’s but they will be there nonetheless.

The trains in Mumbai, too, are back on track after yesterday’s deluge. Videos of many railway stations flooded with water surfaced on social media. However, today, the trains are also back on track.
