If you have ever had to travel to BKC from Kurla station, you know the struggle to find an autorickshaw and make it to work on time. Kurla is one of the most crowded Central Railway stations and commuters have always faced the challenge of travelling onwards from Kurla. To make travel more convenient for office goers, Kurla is all set to get exclusive 115-sqm non-motorised environment-friendly transport hubs, outside Kurla station on its western side. The e-bikes will serve commuters between the districts of Bandra, Kurla and BKC. The Indian Railways is providing docking hubs for an e-bike for the first time outside stations.

The Electric Bikes Will Ease Connectivity

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) signed a deal with an e-bike sharing platform to start a pilot scheme in BKC. Yulu Bikes are already operating in Navi Mumbai, but now it will set up 25 zones in BKC and near Kurla railway station. They will provide around 500 bikes for last-mile connectivity. The battery-powered lithium scooter can run up to 55 km when fully charged. Travelling In Lower Side Berth Of Train Now More Comfortable With Back Rest & Innovative Seats.

Commuters Will Have To Download The App

Kurla has connectivity to various places like BKC, Bandra and Kalina campus, and therefore, it will have maximum footfalls. However, this will be an application-based service where commuters will download the app, scan the QR code and unlock the cycle. The Electric Bikes Can Run At A Speed Of 25km Per Hour

Commuters have to pay 10 to unlock the bike, and subsequently, pay 10 for every 10 minutes of use. The bike can run at 25km per hour at top speed. Interchangeable batteries power the bikes, and hence would not need to be recharged at the hub.
