Mumbai’s Mithi River & Nullahs To Be Cleaned; BMC To Spend ₹132 Crores On It

Mumbai has a 263.91 km of a long network of nullahs spread across the western and eastern suburbs. However, the BMC plans to remove 2.53 lakh metric tonne silt before the onset of the monsoon. The BMC intends to spend ₹132.40 to clean major nullahs to prevent waterlogging during monsoon. Here’s their plan.

The Cleaning Of Nullas Will Start From Vihar Lake

The cleaning of significant nullahs will cost 70 crores starting from Vihar Lake to the Arabian Sea at Mahim Creek. This process requires a total of 62 crores over two years. However, this is not the first time that the BMC is taking this step. The state body appoints contractors every year to desilt nullahs to avoid waterlogging before the monsoon. Mumbai’s Mithi River To Get Clean Up & Rejuvenation At ₹569 Crore.
