According to the Ministry of External Affairs’ official website, the validity of the Indian passport is of 10 years from the date of issue. If you have to replace the passport photograph, you must apply for “Re-issue” of the passport. But for that you need to present a valid reason.

The Application Process For An Indian Passport Re-Issue

It is a very simple procedure and does not consume a lot of time.

  • Visit the Passport Seva Kendra Office. Get Form 2. You can also download it online.
  • When filling out the form online, you must click ‘Reissue of Passport’ under the ‘Administration section area.’
  • Choose the “Change in Existing Personal” section and then the correct option.
  • Schedule an appointment at the Passport office. You will have to submit the form and the payment. Also, submit the required documents.
  • Along with the documents, a letter from the expert marked by the candidate is required.
  • You will get your updated passport with the required adjustments.

Other Reasons For A Passport Re-Issue

These are other common scenarios in which you may have to apply for a re-issue of your passport!
