A new travel case came into the news at Maharashtra airport where a 32-year-old man was arrested. He was basically traveling to Thailand to meet his wife but because some of the pages from his passport were torn and he was questioned. As per the reports, the man wanted to hide his travel history from his wife. He had an extra-marital affair and he went on a trip with his girlfriend.
What’s The Case Exactly?
The man returned to India and upon leaving the airport, the Immigration Bureau at Mumbai Airport noticed that some pages of the passport that should have had his recent travel visa stamp were missing. He almost tore ten pages of his passport.
Although he was unaware of the fact that tampering with the passport is a crime. As per officials, this man is out of jail on 25000 bail surety and has been booked under Sec 420, 465 IPC, and under the passport act 1967.

What’s Is The Penalty?
It is a criminal offense if any of your papers from the passport is found missing. If you tamper with or alter your passport it can get serious, and you can be arrested. A case can be booked on you under Sec 420, 465 IPC or under the passport act 1967. An amount is charged under the penalty. If the case is serious the person can be jailed also for two years. It is very important that your past travel history also remains on the passport.
What Should You Do If Your Passport Is Damaged?
If your passport is not too damaged and you can read the necessary details, you can reissue it in under the Tatkal scheme. It can take 2-3 working days. But in case of serious damages, you might have to face the whole passport creation process again.
