New UK Student Visa Rules Limit Scope Of Work Until Graduation Says Government To Parliament

Recently, there have been many changes in the Visa policies of the United Kingdom or the UK. The new UK student visa rules make it harder for those who are looking to migrate from India to the UK permanently. In a recent session, the government also said that the new Visa rules will make it significantly harder for students to work before their studies have been completed. Here are the details.

The new UK student visa rules came into effect on the 17th of July this year. According to an article recently published in the Ommcom News, the government said that foreign students will be deterred from working until graduation.

On the 11th of August, Friday, S Jaishankar, who is the external affairs minister, told the parliament that as per the new student visa regulations, foreign or international students will be deterred from switching to work routes before the completion of their respective graduation programmes.

If the students would like to pursue full-time work, they will have to complete their studies first. He also went on to say that the new visa rules will affect students from all countries. He revealed that the number of Indian students that have gone to the UK in 2022 alone is 1,39,539. This number does not include dependents.

Why Are The New Rules So Strict?

One of the major reasons why the UK is cracking down on student visas and making its rules stricter is because it is the easiest route for migrating. Many people go to the UK, ostensibly to study, but end up finding jobs and eventually settling there.

This will now become significantly harder as graduate students will no longer be able to bring dependents along with them. Only those who are pursuing post-graduate studies or are a part of some research programme will now be allowed to bring dependents along with them.
