If you’re planning an impromptu trip to Nainital or Mussoorie to ring in New Year 2023, then we have bad news for you. Uttarakhand authorities have specifically implemented a “No hotel, no entry” policy. So, this means that tourists who don’t have prior hotel bookings will not get entry into these iconic hill stations. Here’s more about it.
Nainital & Mussoorie To Disallow Tourists Without Prior Hotel Bookings
It’s not uncommon to celebrate New Year in Uttarakhand. Just the beautiful sight of snowcapped mountains, a hot cup of cocoa, a visit to the bustling towns and just the serene vibes, are enough to add the state to your wishlist. So, it isn’t surprising that Nainital and Mussoorie are on every traveller’s wishlist for New Year 2023. If you’ve made prior hotel bookings to these towns then speed away. But if you haven’t then you may want to rethink your plan.
Apart from locals, authorities are disallowing travellers from entering Nainital and Mussoorie on Dec 31 if they haven’t made prior hotel bookings. According to a Times Of India report, these rules have been implemented to prevent overcrowding amid the COVID-19 wave as well as heavy traffic. When it comes to traffic, personnel are deployed at various junctions to take strict actions against hooligans creating havoc during celebrations.
Adequate Parking & Personnel Deployed For New Year Crowd Management
Moreover, authorities have also made arrangements so tourists have specific parking spots. Apart from 9 places for parking vehicles in the town, there will also be sufficient parking available at Picture Palace and Gandhi Chowk. While this was all about the traffic and parking spots, hoteliers are concerned about the New Year rules. Around 50 per cent of travellers usually head to Nainital and Mussoorie without prior bookings. So, hoteliers think this may have an adverse effect on the business.
Well, amid the rising COVID-19 cases across India and the globe, it could be wise to avoid touristy places to celebrate New year altogether. So, if you haven’t made any prior hotel bookings in Nainital and Mussoorie then fret not. Infact 79 per cent of Indians in a recent survey revealed to celebrating New Year at home to stay safe. And that can be cool too! What say?
