No Proper Drainage System In Ram Temple, Ayodhya? Months After Inauguration, Chief Priest Complains About Leaking Roofs

Just six months after its grand inauguration, the chief priest of Ram Temple in Ayodhya has said that water is leaking from the roof of the sanctum sanctorum after the city experienced its first heavy rainfall on Saturday. According to him, there has been negligence in the construction of the temple as there is no arrangement for drainage of rainwater from the temple premises.

Chief Priest Complain About Leaking Roof At Ayodhya Ram Temple

On January 22, the much-talked-about Ram Temple was inaugurated in Ayodhya. Now, just a few months later, the temple’s structure and construction are under scrutiny as the chief priest, Acharya Satyendra Das, has reported that the roofs of the temple are leaking. According to him, after the first heavy rainfall of the season on Saturday, the roof of the sanctum sanctorum started leaking.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the chief priest said that after the first rain of the season, the roof of the room where the idol of Ram Lalla has been installed has started leaking. He then said that this issue deserves immediate attention. According to him, it is important to find out what went amiss during construction. He further mentioned that there is no space to drain water out of the temple. Talking about his concerns, the chief priest said if the rain intensifies in the upcoming days, then it would be very difficult to pray inside the temple.

No Arrangement For Drainage In The Temple?

As per Acharya Satyendra Das’ claim, there is no drainage arrangement in the temple premises. He has called it negligence in the construction of the temple. The reports of roof leakage have been confirmed by the chairperson of the Sri Ram Mandir Construction Committee, Nripendra Mishra. As per the Hindustan Times report, repair work is underway at the temple. They will also work to waterproof the roof.

However, Nripendra Mishra did mention that the reason for the leak was not the lack of a drainage system. According to him, the leaking is expected as the Guru Mandap is exposed to the sky. He went on to reassure that once the work on the first floor and Shikhar is completed, this opening will be covered. He said, as per Nagar architectural norms, the mandaps which are open will get rainwater and there is no design or construction issue

As per an NDTV report, Nripendra Mishra said that the work on the first floor will be completed by July. Also, the committee is hopeful that the construction of the temple will be completed by December.
