Noida Proposes A 28 Km-Long Expressway Connecting Jewar Airport, Yamuna Expressway & NGN Expressway

Noida, the planned city of UP, is growing and attracting various housing investments. And with its new Jewar Airport, the traffic at Noida-Greater Noida Expressway is increasing. To tackle this situation, the Noida Authority has proposed a 28 km-long expressway which will connect to Jewar Airport, Yamuna Expressway and NGN Expressway.

A 28-kilometre road that will facilitate traffic on the Noida Expressway is being built by the Noida Authority. The alternative route, according to officials, would avoid the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, which is predicted to experience a sharp increase in traffic after the Noida airport opens for business next year.

The new route is initially slated to start close to Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj barrage and stretch to the Yamuna-Pushta road, which parallels the Noida Expressway and passes across the floodplains of the river. This path will take you from Sector 152 to Pari Chowk on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, and finally to the Jewar airport. After a thorough discussion about the project with authorities on Friday, Lokesh M, the CEO of Noida Authority, decided to set up a team to investigate the viability of the alternate route.

The committee, led by additional CEO Sanjay Khatri, will work with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the irrigation department, which looks after the Yamuna-Pushta (Bandh) road. The CEO stated that as the new route would pass through several cities, the Noida Authority would strongly recommend that NHAI supervise its construction. The UP government would receive the comprehensive project report when it was ready to decide on the funding schedule.

According to Lokesh M, before they start construction on the road, though, they will provide the committee’s report to the NHAI chairperson. The government will have the last say on the matter.

Officials To Carry Out Surveys

Officials stated that surveys would be carried out by the committee to ascertain which sections should be raised, how much land is available, and how the sectors that lie along the alignment will be developed.

The new route was designed with the anticipated rise in traffic flow on the Noida Expressway in the upcoming years in mind. He further stated that there’s little doubt that once the airport is operational, traffic will rise significantly. There are already traffic jams on the 25-kilometre expressway during peak hours. Thus, the necessity for a plan to clear the stretch is critical.

This action aligns with several other mobility strategies designed to reduce traffic on the Noida Expressway. A route connecting Sector 142 in Noida with the Botanical Garden station has been released by Delhi Metro. The Botanical Garden will be a major interchange on this route, which would also run parallel to the Noida Expressway and facilitate travel between the two airports.

The Chilla elevated road, which will link Delhi’s Mayur Vihar with the Mahamaya flyover on the Noida Expressway, is another significant project. After this road, which has been delayed by several years, opens, commuters from Ghaziabad and Delhi can bypass the Noida Expressway and go straight from the flyover to the Bandh road.
