Pav bhaji, the richly spiced mish-mash of boiled vegetables, has an ardent following beyond the bustling streets of Mumbai, its place of origin. The dish has made a name for itself world over for its creamy, buttery and spicy mix of flavours and textures. Kadi Tucker, a self-proclaimed polyglot and Bollywood aficionado from Los Angeles, shared a video that won the hearts of Maharashtrians and Marathi-speaking people everywhere! Watch it below!

In a video that Kadi shared on January 17, 2025, she makes some delicious Pav Bhaji because that’s what she was craving. Now, it’s not uncommon to see non-Indians making Indian recipes. What’s uncommon is seeing non-Indians speak fluent Marathi – which is what she did!

She said phrases like “Aaj mala pav bhaji pahije” (Today, I want Pav Bhaji). Seeing her speak such fluent Marathi was undoubtedly a pleasant surprise for a number of people who saw the video. A number of people showered her with praises and envyingly admired her pav bhaji.

The video showcased both her linguistic as well as her culinary skills. Not only did she surprise the viewers with her Marathi skills, but she also surprised them with how well the pav bhaji was made.

This Is How Netizens Reacted To Her Speaking Marathi

Understandably, a number of people were going gaga over her Marathi skills. One commenter said in Marathi, “Aadhaar card dya tiala kuni India cha” (somebody give her the Indian Aadhaar card.)

One commenter said jokingly that they got a black woman speaking Marathi before they got GTA 6. Yet others commented that her daughter, who was briefly featured in the video, was incredibly cute.

Many others responded to her video in Marathi, praising either her culinary prowess, her linguistic skills or both. It is clear that Kadi’s endearing (and successful) attempts at speaking Marathi struck a chord with a number of viewers.
