1. Australia Lit The Skies With Fireworks Over The Sydney Opera House & Harbour Bridge
Australia and New Zealand were the first two nations to ring in the New Year thanks to their proximity to the International Date Line. Fireworks exploded the skies over the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge in Australia. Usually, a million people would gather to witness the annual fireworks at the Sydney Harbour Bridge. But this year, Australia live telecasted the fireworks on TV as the two most populous states, Victoria and New South Wales combat the pandemic.

Pujaris and priests at the temples stood ina row and performed the aarti with huge deepams dedicated to Ganga Mata, the holy river. Tourists and locals both laced the ghats of Varanasi to watch the first sunrise of 2021 unfold, bringing new hope, new light.
4. The USA Ushered In The New Year With A Virtual Event & An Empty Times Square
For the first time in years, New York’s Time Square wore an eerily deserted look as it closed to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic. But the USA held a virtual event for everyone on Times Square. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Andra Day performed on a stage at Times Square, before the clock struck 12. Though it was a successful and joyous virtual party, the lack of audience and empty Times Square did break many hearts. Confetti and lights adorned the street to welcome the New Year in style.
5. Singapore Lit The Skies With A Grand Light Show At Marina Bay
Singapore welcomed the New Year by lighting the Merlion statue as part of the celebrations. People also gathered to watch a grand light show at Marina Bay as the traditional fireworks were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Well, this light show was splendid and lit the skies and peoples hearts.
