The National Committee for Emergency Situations Management issued a warning regarding the escalating unstable by conditions in Oman. This follows after there were flash floods in Oman, which swept away several vehicles, leaving 12 people dead on Sunday. As a result, distance learning has been declared for schools and universities today. Here is more about this!

Distant Learning In Oman For Today

 

Several people were found dead after their vehicles drifted away due to flash floods in Oman on Sunday. This included nine students following which, distance learning for schools and colleges has been declared for today in Oman. As it happens, a search is still underway for missing people. The people who were found dead included two residents and an expatriate as well; as per the reports by the National Committee for Emergency Situations Management.

This Notification Comes After There Were Flash Floods In Oman

In fact, several parts of Oman have been inundated after torrential rains, which have resulted in flash floods. Moreover, the Ministry of Higher Education Scientific Research and Innovation also issued an order regarding this development. As such, the Ministry also added that this will be for the educational institutions to decide whether they want to resume regular schooling during the low-impact period or not. According to a report by Khaleej Times, it was also mentioned that the Royal Oman Police have constantly been responding to several reports of families and children that have been trapped in the wadis due to such unstable weather conditions.

In fact, residents have also been urged to take precautions according to official communications. Going by the Oman Met Department, there is a varying intensity of activity and flow of Thunderclouds over the parts of Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dhahirah, North Al Sharqiyah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, and Al Dakhiliyah. it is also expected that the rains might continue during the coming hours.
