One of the major thoroughfares that see heavy traffic is the Al Batinah Highway. The Ministry is consistently doing the required routine maintenance on it in order to maintain road user safety and protect it as one of the country’s greatest achievements in transportation infrastructure.

The motorway has four lanes that are 3.75 metres wide each, with both internal and exterior shoulders. Additionally, it contains 25 water crossings, a traffic island that is 12 metres wide, 17 flyovers, 12 underpasses, 23 interchanges, and 3 and 2 metres of asphalt shoulders. To lessen traffic congestion, a total of 1,106 box culverts were constructed.

Along with places to park ambulances and Oman Police vehicles, the highway also has pedestrian flyovers, rest areas, and truck weighing stations.

The Al Batinah Expressway is one of the largest infrastructure projects we can witness in the entire Middle East. The project’s development cost OMR1bn ($2.6bn). The Oman Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) originally categorized the Al Batinah Expressway building project into six sections.
