A flight attendant working with Pakistan International Airlines was fined by Canadian authorities for flying from Islamabad to Toronto without a passport. Read on to know more about this untoward incident and why the flight attendant didn’t carry her passport.

As per an NDTV report, an air hostess of Pakistan International Airlines flew from Islamabad to Toronto without her passport. The air hostess said she forgot to carry her passport during her duty. This incident happened on March 15 on flight PK-781. Since she didn’t have her passport, she boarded the plane with her general declaration documents. Canadian authorities reprimanded her for her negligence. She was fined 200 Canadian dollars (₹12,258 approx) after her flight landed and she was discovered without a passport.

Pakistan International Airlines confirmed this incident and stated a fine was imposed on the cabin crew for flying without her passport. The spokesperson for Pakistan’s national flag carrier said she left her passport at Karachi airport, he kept her identity a secret. However, the spokesperson denied all reports of her seeking political asylum in Canada. He stated that she returned to Pakistan via flight PK-782. This incident has once again sparked concerns as it adds to the ongoing cases where PIA flight attendants seeking immigration to Canada have disappeared. The report stated that over 10 PIA flight attendants have gone into hiding after landing in Canada recently.

The Airline Barred Its Pilots & Cabin Crew From Fasting During Ramadan

Pakistan’s national flag carrier has instructed the cabin crew and pilots not to observe fasting during Ramadan while on duty during domestic and international flights. Air Crew Medical Centre and Corporate Safety Management have advised Pakistan International Airlines’s cabin crew members and pilots to refrain from fasting during flights. An official stated that PIA’s top management has issued compliance orders to cabin crew personnel and pilots. These recommendations specifically state that when people fast, they face dehydration and may face issues of sleepiness and laziness.

Meanwhile, flying without a passport is a serious offence, so the Toronto authorities took strict action against the Pakistan International Airlines’s flight attendant.
