The Union Territory of Pondicherry is one of the most popular beach destinations in India and also an Instagrammable paradise. Flanked by French colonies, neighbourhood bakeries and exquisite cafes, it’s undoubtedly on every Indian’s wish list. And now, you have yet another reason to head to Pondy! Booking.com has named Pondicherry the ‘Most Welcoming Region in India’ in its 11th Annual Traveller Review Awards 2023. Read on to know more.

Pondicherry Recognised For Top-Notch Hospitality In India

Booking.com’s 11th Annual Traveller Review Awards 2023 is a celebration of their hospitality and travel p[artners who have gone above and beyond to ensure travellers have comfortable and memorable experiences. As part of this award, Pondicherry emerged as the Most Welcoming Region of 2023. After analysing scores of reviews, it has been deemed to offer top-notch hospitality by super friendly locals.

Kerala, Rajasthan, Goa and Himachal Pradesh took the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions in the most welcoming regions in India list, respectively. When it came to the most welcoming cities in India, both Palolem and Agonda in Goa took the 1st and 2nd places respectively. This was followed by Kerala’s Mararikulam, Karnataka’s Hampi and Madhya Pradesh’s Khajuraho.

Manali Houses Most Awarded Properties, Followed By Bengaluru

The Booking.com survey also recognised Manali as the city with the most-awarded properties in India. Bengaluru and Jaipur followed suit. The most-awarded property type in India is undoubtedly hotels and then homestays and guesthouses. The travel portal has recognised 1.36 million travel providers for their hospitality across the world. The list also includes 10,799 in India.

La Rioja In Spain Is The Most Welcoming Region On Earth

When it comes to the most welcoming regions on earth, La Rioja, a region in Spain known for its vineyards and mountains took first place. This was then followed by Epirus a historical place in Greece, and Oberosterreich, the culturally rich region in Austria known for the Danube river.
