Popular Dubai Chef Reif Othman Receives The UAE’s Golden Visa

Proud owner of Dubai’s famous Japanese restaurant Reif Japanese Kushiyaki, chef Reif Othman and his family are the latest residents to receive the UAE golden visa. UAE launched the golden visa scheme in 2019, providing all recipients a renewable 10-year visa.

The Brain Behind Reif Japanese Kushiyaki, Othman Has Been In The UAE For 12 Years

Othman first arrived in Dubai and worked as the executive chef at the award-winning restaurant Zuma. Besides, he also worked at other high-end restaurants like Play and Billionaire Mansion before starting off on his own. In fact, Kushi by Reif at the Depachika Food Hall at Nakheel Mall in the Palm is also his brainchild.

Over the last 12 years, Othman and his family have made Dubai their home. “We are committed to the UAE long-term, so the golden visa recognition is the icing on the cake,” he told The National.

This year, Othman plans to take his restaurant- Reif Japanese Kushiyaki to other countries, outside the UAE. He plans to set up franchises in Cairo and Riyadh. Celebrating the Golden Visa, Othman’s restaurant at Dubai’s Dar Wasl mall is offering all all diners a free golden dessert from June 20 to 26, throughout the week. The delectable dessert consists of green tea creme brulee with gingered mango and creamy chocolate topped with gold leaf. The dessert will be available for lunch and dinner.

“When we invest in ourselves, in our passions and projects, we plant the seeds of development. Dubai enables us to see the world with the eyes of a child, to explore and build our dreams into our realities, and for that I will always be grateful,” he told The National.

Bollywood Star Sanjay Dutt Is The Latest To Receive UAE Golden Visa

Sanjay Dutt is not the first person to receive the Golden visa. Previously, celebrities and sports persons including the likes of footballer Ronaldinho and Egyptian rapper and actor Mohamed Ramadan received the Golden visa. Dutt has been residing in the UAE, ever since he received treatment for cancer in Dubai, last year. However, the actor announced in October that he won the battle with cancer.

Who Is Eligible For The UAE’s Golden Visa?

In January 2019, UAE announced a ten year visa scheme for select residents. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai announced that more people can apply for this visa. His Highness approved the Golden Visa to all PhD holders in the UAE. UAE graduates from with a GPA of 3.8 and above are also eligible to apply for the visa. Isn’t that great?

All doctors, engineers in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, programming, electricity and biotechnology will be eligible for UAE’s10 year visa.  In addition, residents who hold degrees in specialised subjects including artificial intelligence, big data and epidemiology and viruses will also be considered.
