While Auroville in Puducherry is known for offering a rejuvenating experience for tourists, Puducherry as a whole doesn’t cater to tourists seeking a spiritual getaway. This is about to change. According to a Times Of India report, Puducherry will witness several development projects — aimed to transform it into a spiritual getaway. Franco-Tamil regions like Yanam, Karaikal and Thirukanch in the French colonial settlement will undergo changes.

Upcoming Development Projects
Here are some developmental projects in Puducherry, you need to look forward to
- Touristy makeover of Eden beach
- Sri Gangai Varagha Natheeswarar Temple to get more pilgrim facilities and ghat to be developed
- Spiritual park at Thirunallar Karaikal to get swanky makeover
- Aayi Mandapam to be renovated
- Bharathi Park to get dynamic lighting
Ministry of Tourism and Culture is bringing these developmental projects to Puducherry under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme. The government expects that with Puducherry being given a spiritual makeover, there shall be a boost in tourism. Currently, tourists can head to Auroville’s Matrimandir for a calming meditation experience and also take up yoga and other healing workshops at the Arka Wellness Centre.
