Every time we plan a trip, we all look out for offbeat or hidden gems. Well, we have found one for you, Phaltan. Phaltan is a small town in Maharashtra’s Satara district. The town is about 270 km from Mumbai and 117 km from Pune. The place offers you the pleasant aspects of both city and country life. Though it is a small town, there is so much one can explore here. Places To Visit In Phaltan

1. Fratelli Vineyards

If you are a wine lover, Phaltan has something special for you. This place is known as India’s largest vineyard. This place was established in 2007 and is an Indo-Italian venture. Wine-making expert Piero Masi of Tuscany and three families came up with this vineyard. You can either explore this place in a day or book a comfortable stay. They are open from Monday to Saturday.

When: 10 am-6 pm

2. Shri Bhavani Museum and Library Aundh

Shri Bhavani Museum and Library has about 500 miniature paintings of the schools from the 15th century to the 19th century. The museum has a rich collection of articles made out of ivory and sandalwood. It was built in 1938 by the Raja of Aundh, the late Bhawan Rao Pant Pratinidhi. It houses all the work he did in his lifetime. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday.

When: 10 am-5 pm

3. Ajinkyatara Fort

Ajinkyatara Fort is a scenic fort from the 16th century. It is located in the Sahyadri mountains, perched up at a height of 3,300 feet. The fort was constructed by Shilahara King Bhoj II. It is a heritage and historic site in Maharashtra. You can go for the Ajinkyatara trek, which is a beginner-level trek. The view from the top is breathtaking, as it encompasses the entire city of Satara.

When: 6 am-6 pm

4. Mudhoji Manmohan Rajwada

Mudhoji Manmohan Rajwada is one of the ancient heritage buildings in Maharashtra. The palace has been featured in movies like Khatta Metha and Zilla Ghaziabad. It is the maternal home of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje Maharaj. The Rajwada has intricate hand-carved woodwork in the columns and the arches. Every corner of the room speaks royal.

5. Green Bean Restaurant

Visiting a place in Maharashtra that is known for its history and not relishing authentic Maharashtrian food is surely a crime. So let’s save you from it. Visit the Green Bean restaurant for an authentic Maharashtrian thali with 21 dishes. The thali comprises bharli vangi, masala bhat, pithla, puran poli, and 17 other dishes.

6. Pusegaon Windmills

How many times have you seen windmills in TV shows or cartoons? If you too have wished to witness them for real, Phaltan’s Pusegaon Windmills are your chance. After driving through rocky mountainous areas, you will spot windmills, and that moment is surely going to be unbelievable. You can sit down with a glass of wine or your picnic basket near a windmill and enjoy solitude.

7. Shri Ram mandir

This temple, unlike other temples, is situated in a family-owned palace in Phaltan. The temple is therefore closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Tuesdays. The temple was constructed about 300 years ago and boasts the Peshwa style. Other than Lord Ram, who is the main deity, the temple also has Ek Mukhi Datta. It also has a statue of a dog in the temple.

When: 9 am-11 am and 3 pm-7 pm
