Pune To Go Green With E-Buses

Pune city is taking a green turn and you’ll soon be able to ride around in pollution free e-buses around the city!

What Is It?

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has received a green signal (quite literally) from the Maharashtra government to deploy e-buses into the city. By March 2019, 25 e-buses will be running across 7 different routes in the city which carries 40-50 passengers at a time. PMPML plans to set out 125 more buses by June 2019 and 330 more by Dec 2019 as an initiative of turning Pune into a greener city.

About The E-Buses & Routes

The e-buses will be able to run across a stretch of 225 km with its full charge, and they will also carry a power bank for extra charge. Nonetheless, one e-bus will take 4 hours to get fully charged. 

The initial 7 routes are as follows –
1. Pune Station – Bhekrai Nagar
2. Dange Chowk – Hinjewadi Phase 3
3. Bhekrai Nagar-Pimple Gurav
4. Nigdi – Bhosari
5. Akurdi Railway Station – PMC
6. Bhekrai Nagar – Narveer Tanaji Wadi
7. Hadapsar – Hinjewadi Phase 3

Tickets

Since the buses won’t be requiring fuel to run, the tickets will be at a nominal price. They will run just like the local buses in Pune and the ticket cost will be nearly the same.
