Pune’s Baba Bhide Bridge was built in 1996, but ironically it has become a symbol of Pune’s heavy monsoon season, as whenever it rails heavily, the bridge would always be the first to submerge, leaving stranded commuters, helpless. Pune’s Mula-Mutha Riverfront To Get Makeover, Baba Bhide Bridge To Get Demolished

According to a report by Punekar News, the Mula-Mutha riverfront shall undergo an eco-friendly development project involving beautification, of the surrounding areas too. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will put this project into action with an allocation of ₹5000 crores for the same. In order for this makeover to happen, Pune’s iconic Baba Bhide Bridge will be a thing of the past. The bridge known to get submerged during heavy rains is too narrow. So it will be demolished.

Riverside Project To Clean River Water

Moreover, the riverside road between Mhatre Bridge and Tilak bridge will also be removed. Punekars from Kothrud, Warje and Sinhagad Road may face issues commuting during the length of this project. Nevertheless, traffic will be diverted to another route. The project will not only beautiful riverbanks but also clean the river water, tackling water pollution.
