Qatar Temporarily Bans Travellers From India

The Peninsular Arab Country, Qatar has a total of 439 confirmed cases of coronavirus. And out of these total cases, 38 of them are newly registered cases where most of the patients are migrant workers, and 3 of them are Qatari citizens who returned from travel from UK, Switzerland and Spain. In order to contain the rapid spread of this deadly virus, Qatar has now temporarily banned travellers from India and 13 other nations. Qatar has put this temporary ban on people coming from China, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Nepal, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Syria.

The Qatar government put out a statement stating that this decision to ban travellers from India and 13 other nation comes as a preventive measure due to the spread of coronavirus worldwide. This statement reveals that temporary suspension of entry would affect all people intending to enter from these countries including those with residence or work permit, visa on arrival and temporary visitors.

Qatar Airways had also announced a temporary suspension of flights to and from Italy which is one of the worst affected countries by the coronavirus pandemic. The airlines has also stopped all its flights from India. But an airline spokesperson clarified that if the final destination of passengers from India is not Doha, then they can be allowed to take connecting flights without stepping out of the Doha airport. Qatar Airways which operates 102 weekly flights from Doha to 13 Indian cities stated that it was placing a temporary hold on stopover services in Doha.
