Reddit: Woman Denied Entry At Bangalore Airport For Reaching ‘Early’; Allowed To Enter As It Was Cold Outside

Let’s be honest, travelling to an airport on time is a headache, but a necessity as well. And there are people who try to reach the airport on time in order to avoid any last-minute troubles before taking the flight to the desired destination. Another reason why a lot of people, especially women, arrive early for their flights is because they don’t want to travel in the wee hours of the morning. Owing to a similar reason, a woman who did not wish to travel at 3 AM in the morning in Bangalore, reached the airport early. But, she was not allowed to enter! Here’s the reason why.

Bangalore Airport Denies Entry To A Woman For Reaching Too Early

@BLRAirport @DGCAIndia One of my female friend is being denied entry at the airport as she's "too early". The guards at the airport said that you should come 2 hours before the flight only. Her flight is at 7am. I don't think any girl would feel safe to travel at 3am.

People often try to reach the airport earlier than the scheduled departure as the check-in process takes quite a lot of time. And in order to avoid any delays or last-minute hassles, they tend to travel earlier than the advised time. Similarly, a woman in Bangalore, who had an early morning flight at 7 AM, decided to travel to the airport by taking a bus at around 9 PM from Whitefield. The reason for this was that she did not feel safe travelling alone at 3 AM. However, when she reached the airport, she was in for a rude shock.

Yes, on reaching the airport, she was denied entry by the security guards as they stated that she had to arrive at the airport two hours before the flight and not earlier. While she was later allowed to enter, after a lot of bickering, the security guards as mentioned in the Twitter post did not take in the fact that she felt unsafe travelling in the wee hours of the morning. Although, she was later allowed to enter the airport, as it was cold outside. However, it’s worth mentioning that she didn’t receive any notice of the entry being prohibited if a passenger arrives early.

Reddit Users Give Mixed Response

While Bangalore Airport has also replied to the tweet asking about the passenger details in order to investigate the incident, this has also become a talking point on Reddit. Several users on the platform said that they have never been denied entry on the grounds that they have reached ‘too early’. In fact, many people came out in support of the girl on the platform stating how they have faced similar situations and sometimes they tend to stay at the restaurants in the vicinity of the airport, as it’s also relatively safe. However, there were others who said that this is actually a rule that is followed by several airports.
