  • It was built over a century ago and the hosts: Lalita Phalke and Vijay Chandrasenrao Phalke had ancestors move over from the Decaan part of Maharashtra to Gwalior with the Scindia in the late 1700s.
  • The foundation stone of this gorgeous haveli laid out by Sardar Anandrao Saheb Phalke Shamsher Jung Bahadur, was Vijay Chandrasenrao Phalke’s grandfather.
  • Haveli’s first stone laid was to commemorate the birth of his first real heir to the throne.
  • The first real heir, Sardar Chandrasenrao Phalke, came into their lives after five generations of adopted kids. 
  • The Haveli has a Dev Ghar, a place where the foundation stone is kept and is a special worship place.
  • This heritage homestay in Gwalior was named ‘Krishna Mandir’ after Krishna Bai Saheb, mother’s Late Sardar Chandrasenrao along with the god they worshipped, Kul Devata.
