Revamping The 1987 Concept Of Themed Parks, Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy Just Opened In Los Angeles

Ready for fun-filled weekends in Los Angeles? The world of art and carnival rides came back together once again. Revamping and picking up the concept of ‘Art Amusement Park’ back from Hamburg, Germany’s 1987 first-ever Luna Luna by André Heller came to Los Angeles. The world’s first-ever art amusement park showcased the works of legendary artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Salvador Dalí. The same has been revived after 36 years, and all the credit goes to Drake. Yes, Drake, the singer! Who else do you know by the name of Drake?

This time, it is called Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy. It has been aptly named because these whimsical creations of art combined with rides were hidden away and forgotten. They have been brushed and polished and made available to the public in L.A. Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy presents 19 of those rare works by some of the most incredible artists, like Kenny Scharf, Arik Brauer, Haring, Salvador Dalí, and more.

These are funky doodles with bright colours back from the vibes of 80’s. One of the rides is a chair ride by Kenny Scharf, where a couple of doodle faces stare towards the ride. There are two carousels by Arik Brauer and Haring, and they are distinctly different. Brauer’s representation is more of an absurdist.

Fyodor Dostoevsky and Franz Kafka are not the only ones who are popular for absurdity. Go and have a look at Brauer’s abstract art of a human and horse hybrid hand called ‘Pferdehand’. We just realised that most of these unusual rides are not really for riding, but just seeing them is a fantastic weekend pastime, so we thought you should check it out.

Haring’s carousel is rather interesting, with doodle figures with a red dog and dancing humans instead of the typical white horses. Another interesting thing to note here is that it also features one of his self-portraits at the centre.

Moving On To The Art Of Salvador Dalí, Basquiat And André Heller

Salvador Dalí’s ‘Dalídom’ is a mesmerising one. He created it when he was nearing his death and it is a huge purple mirrored geometric structure. Click some cool pictures of your infinite reflections from inside of it while some great music is played by Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy. André Heller used to host weddings at the wedding chapel in 1987.

You could marry anything and everything, right from your dog to your tree or bike, and surprisingly, people did. The advantage here was that you could tear away the marriage certificate to nullify the wedding. Ross from Friends should not know about this place! I repeat, Ross from Friends should not know about this place! Basquiat’s Ferris Wheel is a fun way to end the tour of Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy. You can find the quirkiest and punniest things made on it.

Drake and his business company, DreamCrew, took matters into their own hands when they discovered Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy. He was extremely astonished after hearing about it and connected with the creator, André Heller, who is currently 75. He knew he had to make the world experience this special mannerism of art, which would also bring people together.
