Saudi Arabia recently created history. No, we are not talking about the space mission which saw the first Saudi woman take a voyage into space. Well, we are talking about another milestone that has been set by yet another Saudi woman. Yes, Rumy Alqahtani has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Saudi Arabian woman to officially enter the Miss Universe bent this year. Here’s all about this major development.

Rumy Alqahtani is 27 years old and she took to Instagram to announce that she would be participating in the Miss Universe pageant. In fact, she will be representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by becoming the first-ever contestant from the country in the international beauty pageant. Not to mention, this global event is going to be taking place in Mexico on September 18.

Last Year Bahrain Also Participated In The Pageant For The First Time

For those who aren’t aware, she is a reborn model and content creator, and the announcement about her participation was made on her official Instagram account. And this participation comes after Bahrain during the previous year also participated for the first time in the Miss Universe pageant. Yes, Lujane Yacoub became the first woman from the Gulf Region to participate in the international beauty pageant.

She Holds Other Important Titles

However, this is not the first time that Alqahtani has participated in an international competition. She has previously represented the kingdom in several other competitions. Yes, these include prestigious names, like Miss Asia in Malaysia, Miss Europe, and Miss Arab Peace. Besides being Miss Saudi Arabia, she also holds the titles of Miss Arab World Peace 2021, Miss Middle East (Saudi Arabia), and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia).

This is indeed a historic move, and it reflects the kingdom’s ongoing transformation!
