This Gudi Padwa was special and we got to celebrate it with Marathi mulgi Saiee Manjrekar! She invited us for a special shrikhand and puri meal at her Dadar home and then we ventured out to try some of her favourite eateries in the city. Since it was Gudi Padwa, we also offered prayers at Siddhivinayak Temple and relived some of Saiee’s childhood memories at Shivaji Park.
Saiee Manjrekar Talks About Gudi Padwa Celebrations At Home
We spent this Gudi Padwa with Saiee Manjrekar and she shared how the festival of new beginnings, positivity, and Maharashtrian pride is celebrated at her home. The young actress revealed that her mother wakes her up at 7:30, and then asks her to shower right away. After setting up the gudi dvaja, the family then goes to the temple near their home and offers prayers. The whole Manjrekar family then decorates the home with flowers and gorges on the special Maharashtrian delicacies that are prepared for the festival. “I could live on shrikhand and puri. I could live on sweets, basically,” she added.
While we were enjoying the puri with shrikhand, Saiee Manjrekar shared that she still lives with her parents and she likes to live with them. “I like living with my parents and I feel it grounds me. They can still yell at me, they can still tell me what time to come home, and they can still manage my finances. It has a little discipline and I feel I am still answerable to someone, which I like.”

On our way to Siddhivinayak Mandir, Saiee Manjrekar pointed out all her favourite eateries on the way and the ones she grew up eating at. Safe to say, she is a foodie at heart! While we had a full Maharashtrian meal at Gypsy Corner, Saiee shared that a nearby eater called Gypsy Chinese is her go-to eatery for Chinese food. “I am addicted, I can eat Chinese food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and never complain. My addiction to Chinese food came from this place,” she added.
