Here’s Why All Moms Should Travel At Least Once With Their Toddlers

Bollywood actor, Sameera Reddy just climbed Mullayanagiri Peak – Karnataka’s highest peak with her 2-month-old daughter Nyra strapped on to her chest and we bow down to her absolutely phenomenal achievement. Yes. we called it an achievement because what Sameera did was nothing short of that. Read on to know the full story!

Trek To Mullayanagiri Peak

Let’s give you a background to Karnataka’s highest peak. Mullayanagiri Peak rises 6,330 feet above sea level and is a part of the mesmerising Western Ghats. The name itself comes from a tomb that lies on top of the hill, that belongs to Mulappa Swamy. The trek in itself is fairly easy and is considered something that new climbers can also do. Another highlight, of course, is the fabulous views that accompany this trek and we are all for it. Take a look.

Sameera Reddy, Steady Go!

In a country like India where even going out with your two-month-old is considered unsafe and unhealthy for a baby, Sameera has broken age-old norms, to not only go out but actually climb Karnataka’s highest peak. Add to it that she is a celebrity and is open to criticism from anybody with a social media account.

Sameera shared her story on Instagram saying, “Attempted climbing to Mullayanagiri Peak with Nyra strapped on! I stopped midway cos I was so out of breath! 6300 ft high it’s the tallest Peak in Karnataka! So many messages from New moms saying they are inspired to travel & I’m thrilled my travel stories are getting such a positive response! It’s very easy to feel low post baby & I’m super determined to not let it get me down! for moms asking I did not express I just fed her on demand everywhere! Less fuss and easy to travel this way!”

Why Everyone Should Travel Atleast Once With Their Baby

Every baby is different. So is every parent! Some jump at the idea of getting out and exploring with their babies and others probably think that traveling with a baby is a big NO! We respect all ideas and personally, I don’t think anyone should do anything that they think would risk the health and well-being of their baby. But taking a cue from super mommy Sameera Reddy, here’s a few reasons why I think everyone should travel with their child at least once!

  1. It broadens your own horizons and your child’s. A child’s mind is like soft clay and being out in nature and travelling is probably the best way to shape them to love and appreciate the goodness of nature.
  2. It’s a wonderful ‘break’ from the everyday. Having a baby isn’t easy and rasing one is definitely not easy. A break with your baby, out of the routine, is a great way to bond with your child.
  3. You learn to treat yourself. Going out on a holiday with your kid is more than just some time away. It means you’re treating yourself to a holiday too and with a baby or without – a holiday is always something to look forward to.
  4. It’s a definite confidence booster. Once you take your baby out and manage without the everyday routine, handling smaller situations seems so much easier.
  5. You’ll rediscover you. A lot changes after having a baby and they pretty much take over your life. Travelling and going out again teaches you to slow down and start appreciating the things you loved to do. You deserve a break too and this gives you that much needed time off!
  6. It’s way cheaper to travel with an infant than with an older baby. From airport concessions to hotel rooms, it is always cheaper to travel with an infant
  7. Travelling makes you and your baby more flexible. Your baby learns to adjust early on and you learn to go with the flow.
  8. The memories! You start creating the most beautiful memories with your baby
  9. You get to spend time together. Taking a break with your baby is probably the best way to bond with them. You don’t have your daily responsibilities, you’re freer and you get to form that special connection with your child.

Statutory Warning

It doesn’t have to be a big trip. It doesn’t have to be across the world. It could be just a weekend getaway an hour away from your hometown. When we say travel with your baby, we know that 100 things can go wrong, but 100 things could also go right. You just have to take that chance but ultimately it comes down to you.
