According to an article which was recently published by The Indian Express, a new international cricket stadium is all set to come up near the Samruddhi Expressway. The new cricket stadium will also have a coaching centre which will help players from Thane as they won’t have to travel all the way to Mumbai’s city centre to practice.
The plot on which the new stadium is to come up is spread across 50 acres. It is situated at the western end of the Samruddhi Expressway which is 701 kilometres long. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation or the MSRDC has recently floated tenders for leasing the land which is near Amane in Maharashtra.
According to The Indian Express article, an official from the Mumbai Cricket Association or MCA said that the organisation was interested in acquiring parcels of the land. One of the main reasons for building this cricket stadium is to utilise the land for sports activities. The MSRDC is planning on leasing the land for cricket activities for a total of 99 years, as per the article.

Samruddhi Mahamarg connects the financial capital of the country to Nagpur through Thane. As of now, it is only partly operational and the final stretch is under construction. This stretch measures 101 kilometres. Once it becomes fully operational, this particular expressway will significantly reduce the time it takes to travel between the two cities.
As of now, it takes 16 hours to travel between Nagpur and Mumbai but once the expressway is fully completed, it will only take six hours.
As per The Indian Express article, around 80 kilometres of the final stretch is already completed. 16 viaducts and six tunnels are needed for this stretch as the terrain here is quite challenging. In December 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Nagpur to Shirdi phase. The only final pending stretch is between the Bharvir in Nashik’s Igatpuri and Mumbai.
Parts of the expressway are already functioning and the vehicular traffic is also quite a lot. The expressway has also witnessed quite a few accidents in the recent past.
