The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently unveiled a list of public holidays that will let the residents explore the opportunities offered to them in the kingdom. As the weekend typically falls on Fridays and Saturdays, these national holidays are generally observed by government and private sector employees. So halfway through the first month of the New Year, it’s important to know of all the public holidays that will be offered to the residents this year.

Holiday List For 2024

  • Saudi Founding Day, February 22

    It is falling on Thursday, Saudi Arabia will commemorate its Founding Day. As a result, residents will get a long weekend.

  • Eid Al-Fitr, April 10

    This festival marks the end of the month of Ramadan, however, it’s worth noting that the exact date will vary and it will depend on the moon sighting. So far, it is expected to fall on Wednesday, which is again going to ensure a long holiday period for people working in public and private sectors.

  • Day Of Arafat, June 15 or 16

    Depending on the moon sighting, this is an important day that coincides with the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and is observed on the ninth day of Dhu Al Hijjah.

  • Eid al-Adha, June 16 or 17

    Following the day of Arafat, this festival, which is also regarded as the festival of sacrifice is observed. It is expected to fall on Monday.

  • Islamic New Year, July 7

    It is still not clear whether it’s going to be a national holiday or not, but the New Year. This is also the first month AKA Muharram marking the advent of the new Islamic year. It is expected to occur on a Sunday this year.

  • Saudi National Day, September 23

    A day that fills every Saudi with immense pride, it is celebrated in a grand fashion. Complete with fireworks, parades, and light shows, several entertainment hotspots across the kingdom go all out to celebrate the important day. This year it falls on a Monday.
