Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid unveiled a Dh1 billion ($272.3 million) bookstand-shaped library on Monday. The library gets its name after Dubai’s ruler. Over a million print and digital books are available in this library, situated in Al Jaddaf. The opening hours of this library are 9 am to 9 pm the whole week except Sundays. The library will not be operational on Sundays.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Consists Of Seven Floors

The structure, which has a total size of 54,000 square metres, takes the shape of a timber stand known as a ‘rahl.’ The library will combine cutting-edge tech and AI to react to visitors’ questions. The library gets an automated archiving and a digital book repository, self-service kiosks, a book digitization facility, and smart robots. It is also an eco-friendly library, with solar panels on the roof providing 10% of its electricity. The exterior construction intends to protect the interior of the building, limit heat gain, and aid in the regulation of the organizational context. The light source is let in through the ceiling windows, the shape aids to cut water usage by half. Water from air conditioners is reused to cultivate green spaces.
