Sikkim has relaxed travel rules allowing entry to all tourists. Sikkim government has decided to remove all Covid-19 restrictions after the state noted a decline in cases. The Sikkim government had earlier eased restrictions for tourists by doing away with the mandatory vaccination certificates and RT-PCR test reports at the border check posts. The Sikkim government has also reopened Yumthang Valley in Lachung village for tourists now.
Yumthang Valley Reopens For Tourists In Sikkim
Yumthang Valley, also known as the Sikkim Valley of Flowers sanctuary, is a slice of a dream in North Sikkim that wears a blanket of dazzling colours, especially during spring, with millions of rhododendrons, iris, poppies and primulas blooming across the valley. The flower valley is around 150 kilometres from Sikkim’s capital, Gangtok, and forms a part of the Lachung trip. The valley has now reopened for tourists. You Can Enter Sikkim From These Points
Earlier, in March 2021, the Sikkim government had issued curbs on the entry of tourists into the state. Now the curbs have been lifted. Tourists can now enter the state through Rangpo in East Sikkim and Melli in South Sikkim after showing their vaccination certificates at the checkpoints. Last year, due to the pandemic, Sikkim had faced a tourism meltdown, with around 1528 travel agencies shutting down and nearly 2200 hotels going out of business.

Hotels, Homestays And Guesthouses To Operate With full Capacity
The Sikkim government has permitted hotels, homestays and guesthouses to operate with full capacity, by adhering to COVID-19 protocols. The state has also allowed shopping malls, showrooms and shops to operate with full capacity with strict adherence to the safety norms.

According to The New Indian Express report, an executive member of the Sikkim Hotel and Restaurant Association (SHRA) told PTI, “The Sikkim Hotel and Restaurant Association (SHRA) welcomes the state government’s decision to open the tourism industry, which is the mainstay of Sikkim’s economy. ”
