A Brand New Skatepark Is Opening At Ras Al Khaimah This Weekend

Listen up! A brand new skatepark is coming to Ras Al Khaimah and it’s inside the very gorgeous Saqr Park. Skate fans can now head to the emirate, skate around and even make a complete weekend getaway of the same. The launch of the new park will be a grand three-day event, starting from Thursday February 27 to Saturday February 29.

What’s It?

Starting this weekend, skateboarders will have a new venue to show off their skating skills! The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority is opening a super cool skatepark inside the Saqr public Park. Known for its vast greenery, the Saqr park is the largest public park in Ras Al Khaimah. And now, along with unwinding in a scenic setting, you can also go skating around lush greenery.

Sprawling an area of 620 square meters, the skatepark is the first to be built inside a public park. The project will be constructed in unique shape and will feature Ghaf trees, to ensure natural shading.

On the launch days, guests can drop by between 3pm to 10pm each day, and be a part of fun activities including games, food trucks, and live music. Besides you can also meet, greet and learn skating lessons from the 15-year-old Isabelly Avila, her father Garcia Rodriguez and 13-year-old Virginia Fortes Aguas. The skatepark boasts a range of obstacles for you to challenge your loved ones including pyramids, ledges, banks and round rails.

Providing obstacles for all levels of skaters, the park is expected to become a go-to for skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX bike riding. Haitham Mattar, Chief Executive Officer, RAKTDA said: “The development of the skating facility at Saqr Park is a key addition to the largest public recreational area in Ras Al Khaimah. We believe that the new skatepark will offer visitors and most importantly residents of Ras Al Khaimah a new and well equipped outdoor space to enjoy skating in all its forms.”

With skateboarding making its Olympic debut in 2020, the UAE government is leaving no stone unturned in transforming this street sport into a globally recognized sport.
