In a significant development for Surat, Gujarat JHM Hotels (GJHM), owned by the Rama family, has partnered with US-based Auro Hotels to sign a hotel management agreement with Marriott International. The collaboration aims to introduce the prestigious luxury brand, JW Marriott, to Surat, Gujarat. This venture marks GJHM’s third Marriott International hotel in Surat, joining the ranks of the Surat Marriott Hotel and Courtyard by Marriott Surat. The upcoming JW Marriott Surat Resort & Spa is anticipated to boast over 300 guestrooms and villas, four diverse dining options, a JW Lounge, and recreational facilities like an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, spa, and kids’ club. With 10,000 sq. feet of meeting and ballroom space, the hotel targets medium to large-scale events.

Positioned as an “urban resort,” the JW Marriott Surat Resort & Spa aims to blend luxury with contemporary design. It promises elevated experiences for both domestic and international travellers. The new resort will be located on the Earthspace campus. This is where Auro University and Courtyard by Marriott Surat are also situated. This strategic placement allows GJHM to integrate hotel operations with Auro University, fostering the development of future hospitality industry leaders.

GJHM’s broader plan for the Earthspace development project envisions creating a cohesive space for work, dining, recreation, and living in Hazira, a suburb of Surat. Besides the JW Marriott Surat Resort & Spa, Auro is developing the Earthspace Convention Centre. It will be a 100,000 sq. ft. facility including a sizable ballroom to accommodate around 4,200 people. This addition aims to attract national conferences and exhibitions, contributing to Surat’s growth and vibrancy.

DJ Rama, President and CEO of Auro Hotels, expressed pride in their affiliation with Marriott International. He also emphasised the significance of adding the upscale JW Marriott brand to their portfolio. He reflected on the full-circle moment for their organisation, celebrating 50 years in the hotel business.

GJHM’s Chairman, HP Rama, also underscored their commitment to Surat’s progress, framing the project with Marriott International as more than a business agreement. He sees it as a shared vision for holistic progress, emphasising a commitment to uplifting communities and fostering enduring prosperity.

Together, they aim to lay the foundation for an impactful collaboration.
