Swati Arora And Her Cousins Went To Mussoorie On A Roadtrip From Delhi

The Decision
As it was a winter season, and I had never experienced snowfall so I decided to go to Mussoorie with my siblings. It was the month of January so we all packed our bags with winter clothes, boots, and other necessary items. Our itinerary started on Friday night around 8:00 PM from Delhi by car. However, you can plan it by bus, train or even book a cab to reach your destination.

The Destination
We reached Dehradun at around 2:00 AM at our sister’s house and then after having a little talk session, we all slept off. You can stay in good hotels in the city which are available at very reasonable prices. Or, the best way to experience Mussoorie’s natural beauty is to book your hotels with EaseMyTrip through which you can stay in lavish Hotels like Royal Orchid, Jaypee Residency, JW Marriott Mussoorie and others where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the exquisite landscape that is completely breathtaking.

The excursion from Delhi to Dehradun is quite easy and anyone can drive to this city. The next day, we all had breakfast and along with our sister’s husband, left for Mussoorie. As he was living in Dehradun so he made a decent guide for us! Mussoorie is not so far from Dehradun city, it is only 34 km away and it took us only 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach.

Roadtrip
The road trip to Mussoorie is a must-have experience for all. The circular and rambling roads without any support on the corners may increase your heart beats. The roadside view from the car was amazing. We were going higher and higher which offered us a wonderful view of the landscape. The picturesque ghats, endless trees and plants and rustic eateries on the roadside are all that you can see while going towards Mussoorie.

Mussoorie
The roads were quite crowded due to the season but it didn’t affect our trip. We reached Mall road, parked our car and enjoyed the scenic hill view from that point. The weather was so chilled and pleasant that it all made our trip to Mussoorie, a successful one. There is a big Gandhi’s statue in the Library Chowk where every tourist takes pictures. There were many cameramen roaming around who give you instant print of the photographs. The region around that statue has a sitting zone with a shed where individuals eat, click pictures and appreciate the most wonderful wow scenery.

Shopping
Well, no vacation or trip is complete without shopping. And Mall Road is popular for shopping and a great option only if you know how to bargain ;) There are many shops where you will see colourful clothes and winter essentials like mufflers, gloves, caps, socks, and scarves available in almost every shop. Additionally, there are shops for jewellery where you will see unique earrings, bangles, necklaces and more. Handicrafts are also available in a few shops but the prices are quite high. I bought only gloves and sunglasses. After the little shopping spree, our stomachs were demanding food!

Food
There are numerous restaurants and road-side stalls where you can fill your stomach in Mall Road. We had our lunch in Uphar Resturant that was delectable in taste. We ordered Dal Makhni, Shahi Paneer and Aloo Naan. Also, we had a Mango softy which was very indulgent and creamy. The weather was superb and just after finishing our lunch, a heavy downpour began. It was overwhelming rain for just 20-30 minutes that we really enjoyed.

Sightseeing
The atmosphere of Mussoorie was filled with tiny drops of ice that provided a gorgeous view. Everyone out there was looking for shade and then enjoying the picturesque view of rain with falling hail. Then we left for Lal Tibba which is only 6 km away from Mussoorie. It is the most elevated point from where you can enjoy the stunning view of the region. The panoramic view of Nilkantha peak, Kedarnath Peak and Badrinath Peak along with snow-capped mountains is awesome from that point. Also, the mesmerizing view of the Tibet border is seen from the Lal Tibba.

Snowfall
The place is very pleasant and relaxing where you will see the remains of British Architecture. We took many photographs of the magnificent view and had Momos, Maggi, and tea from the Cha Dukan nearby Lal Tibba. Within just 15 minutes, the snowfall started that filled all of us with great joy. It was my first experience of snowfall and I was very excited. The tiny snowballs were so light! Everyone out there was just as happy as me. We made 2 tiny snowmen with our freezing hands. The tremendous surroundings and whether completed our voyage. We were not willing to come back from that lovely spot only!

Bhatta Falls
Well, it was already 3 PM when we took our car towards Bhatta Fall. Many people are aware of the charm of Kempty fall but very few people know about Bhatta fall. It is extremely close to Mall road and situated around 1.5 Kms downhill from the main road of DDN-MSR. There are no charges to visit this natural stream and it has become a favourite picnic spot for most of the tourists. It is a perfect place for shutterbugs also as the location is picturesque to catch nature to the best. There are 2-3 small shops near to Bhatta fall where they sell several food items and cold drinks. It took us 5 minutes’ walk to reach the main waterfall.

When we reached so close to the stream it gives a wonderful feeling. The sprinkle of water could easily reach us and the sound of gushing water was very loud. We sat on the large stones and enjoyed the exquisite view and natural beauty of the water stream. You are advised to carry your own lunch as there are only some small eateries that may not provide you with food if it is large
gathering.

We clicked several pictures and enjoyed fried rice with a cold drink in the car as there was no space for sitting in a nearby shop. After staying there for about 15 minutes we came back to Dehradun. The next day we returned to Delhi in the early morning.

Why Mussorrie?
What made me to choose this destination for a vacation? As Mussorrie is not much far from Delhi and of course the roads are well-maintained to ensure travel safety. The weather in winter is perfect as you can enjoy the snowfall. The magnificence of Mussoorie is matchless and it offers a stunning view of the hills and the entire Dehradun city. Apart from sightseeing, you have many options for adventures like trekking, river rafting, paragliding, shopping and more.

Conclusion
All in all, it was a wonderful trip to Mussoorie with cousins, completely hassle free! We were 5 cousins in total and our travel was completed in just Rs. 8000 that included petrol and food also. Shopping was another expense that may vary from person to person. If you will plan it by cab then, of course, the prices may be double or triple as travelling and hotel stay charges will be included. So, if you are planning your travel from Delhi to Dehradun add that too in your budget list. And have a great time!
