Swingers’ Sex Convention In New Orleans Becomes Super COVID-19 Spreader

People are now paying the price for getting naughty. Around 41 people have tested positive after attending the popular lifestyle and swingers couple convention, Naughty N’Awlins, in New Orleans. Naughty N’Awlins began on November 11, 2020 with over 300 people, adhering to COVID-19 restrictions. Reportedly, the celebration took place on a low key this year. The guests had to wear mandatory face masks, undergo thermal screenings and keep a record of everyone they came in contact with. But despite the restrictions, the event has turned out to be a ‘super spreader’ of the virus, as reported by the local media. Meanwhile, an entire village in Himachal had tested positive for COVID-19.

Around 41 People Test Positive After Attending Naughty N’Awlins In New Orleans

Naughty N’Awlins is one of the popular lifestyle and swingers sex event that attracts over 2000 guests every year. This year, the couple convention took place in a smaller way at the NOPSI hotel with only around 300 attendees, who were required to wear masks and undergo thermal screening. Also, they were told to maintain a journal of everyone they had made contact with. But the event became a super COVID-19 spreader. On November 23, five attendees of the event tested coronavirus positive. The very next day, 14 more guests tested positive. A day later, the total number of cases rose to 29. Party organiser Bob Hannaford has notified that the total number of cases has now reached around 41. His team is conducting contact tracing to find if there are any more positive cases. Hannaford has also informed that most of the virus cases are asymptomatic. Only one patient was hospitalised.

Organiser Expressing Regret After Conducting The Event

Hannaford expressed his regret in a blog post about conducting the event this year. He wrote, “We consulted with one of the nation’s top virologists, someone who is one of the top experts in the world on this subject. Together, and with the help of a few other event planners and friends, we wrote the protocol for our upcoming event. This was going to be very different from any other lifestyle event that we have seen operating since this “thing” happened. We were going to do everything we could to make our event as safe as possible.”

He added, “If I could go back in time, I would not produce this event again. Even though most of the 41 positive cases have mostly been asymptomatic or very mild cases. The reason I wouldn’t is that I know of two people who had a tougher time and they were suffering. One of them, a good friend of mine, was hospitalised in serious condition.” He confirmed that his friend is out of hospital now and looks fine. Hannaford also said, “If I thought for one minute that he or anyone would end up in the hospital, I would certainly not have had our event. It is the first hospitalisation I have heard about, but I know it isn’t really the first, it’s just that no one is talking about this.”
