The Tata Mumbai Marathon or TMM is widely considered one of the most prominent races not just in the Financial Capital of the country but also in Asia. This year’s edition was held today and it witnessed global participation with more than a whopping 59,000 participants. Many of the participants were not Indians. From winners and routes to winning prizes and other details, here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this particular event.

Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024: Glimpses From The Race

1. Winners Of The Marathon

In the International Men’s category, Lemi Berhanu Hayle won. He is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. In the Indian Men’s category, Srinu Bugatha won. For the International Women’s Category, Aberash Minsewo came first and in the Indian Women’s category, it was Thakor Nirmaben Bharatjee who won.

2. What Was The Prize For Winning The Marathon?

The first-place winners will receive prize money totalling ₹5 lakhs in each category. According to an article which was recently published by The Free Press Journal, an additional bonus of ₹2 lakhs will also be given to select winners.

3. Route Of The Marathon

The route for the TMM 2024 starts and ends at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus or CSMT. It winds through a number of iconic Mumbai landmarks like Hutatma Chowk, Oval Maidan, Churchgate Station, Bandra Reclamation, Marine Drive, Babulnath Temple, Haji Ali, Mahalaxmi Race Course, Worli Sea Face, Mahim Church, Siddhivinayak Temple, Century Bazaar, Lilavati Hospital and even the Nehru Science Centre.

4. Timings Of The Marathon

The marathon commenced at 5 AM from CSMT and concluded at 12:30 PM. The holding area for the marathon was Azad Maidan and the gates opened at 3 AM. The Elite Race commenced at 7:20 AM and concluded at 10:50 AM.

5. Celebrities Spotted At The Marathon

Celebrities like Gulzar, Kalki Koechlin and Rahul Bose were spotted at the event. In addition to these celebrities, political personalities like Eknath Shinde and Devendra Phadnavis were also present.
